I always remember the market-research project I did regarding cubicles from a 'management' point of view. I had to evaluate these new cubicles that were essentially pieces of nylon with metal poles. The idea was that, as you need to change the configuration of the office, you could break down, shift, and reassemble the cubicles very quickly. I saw it for what it was -- a way to dispose of an employee (or temp) and make it look like they never existed in about five minutes (a strategy I saw in action when I worked at that horrible Title company). Cubicles are probably the most dehumanizing thing in the workplace.
